Yellow Metal Bees® advances honeybee stewardship, habitat restoration, environmental education, and community-based conservation throughout Annapolis and Anne Arundel County, with the long-term goal of becoming a statewide leader in pollinator stewardship and conservation across Maryland.

FROM OPEN SPACE TO POLLINATOR HABITAT

Watch Yellow Metal Bees® transform an open community space into a thriving native pollinator garden, completed with support from Unity Gardens.

2026 PROGRESS TO DATE

  • Yellow Metal Bees® maintains an active apiary in Annapolis through routine inspections, seasonal care, health monitoring, and responsible apiary management. This work provides the foundation for expanded colony stewardship and environmental education programming.

  • Yellow Metal Bees® has been awarded a Fall 2026 Unity Gardens Grant to establish approximately 450 square feet of native pollinator habitat containing approximately 60 native plants. Installation will begin following receipt of the grant funding.

  • Wegmans Food Markets and The Home Depot Riva Festival location have provided early support for Yellow Metal Bees® programming. Bella Italia hosted the organization’s first community meal fundraiser in Annapolis. Upcoming community fundraisers with Wendy’s on West Street, Chipotle at Annapolis Mall, and &Pizza in Laurel will continue building public awareness and support for the Yellow Metal Bees® mission.

  • Development of the future Yellow Metal Bees® headquarters is underway. The site is being prepared to support expanded apiary infrastructure, pollinator habitat, beneficial plantings, native and fruit trees, environmental education, and long-term conservation programming beginning in 2027.

Yellow Metal Bees® Apiary Stewardship, Education, and Sustainability Project

This initiative supports the responsible care, growth, and long-term sustainability of Yellow Metal Bees® honeybee colonies and apiary infrastructure. The project combines ethical hive stewardship, educational programming, volunteer engagement, and improved habitat support to create a durable community resource for pollinator education and conservation.

Yellow Metal Bees® Native Tree Planting and Pollinator Habitat Project

This project expands native tree canopy and pollinator habitat through strategic planting, site stewardship, and community involvement. Native trees and pollinator-supporting vegetation are used to improve forage, biodiversity, wildlife habitat, and long-term environmental resilience while strengthening conservation efforts throughout the Annapolis area.

Yellow Metal Bees® Honey for Heroes

Yellow Metal Bees® Honey for Heroes connects pollinator stewardship with community service by using mission-related honey and educational outreach to recognize veterans, military families, first responders, and other community heroes. The initiative creates a meaningful bridge between environmental stewardship, gratitude, and community engagement.
